    Housing Information 
    Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH) gives active service members two options for housing; living on post or finding a home off-post within the community.

    • Once you have orders to move, contact The Housing Services Center (601) 679-2520. They can answer all of your housing questions and provide services such as referrals, resolving tenant-landlord disputes, and guidance for entering lease agreements.
    On Base Housing  
    • Single service members required to live in Bachelor Housing can contact The Unaccompanied Personnel Housing Office (601) 679-2125 for assistance. 

    • NAS Meridian on-base housing is privatized and operated by Balfour Beatty Communities (601) 679-7669, which offers 3-4 bedroom single family homes based on rank and family size. The community amenities include: dog park and playgrounds.

    Surrounding Areas
    The air station is located about 30 minutes north of the moderately-sized city of Meridian, population 41,150. This is the largest community near base and in the greater east central Mississippi area. Towns with additional off-base housing are Bailey, Decatur, Little Rock, Union, Newton, Collinsville, and Quitman; these are a 40-60 minute commute and very small in population. Meridian Station is another tiny town adjacent to base. The capital city of Jackson is just under a 2 hour drive from Meridian. It is also called the "City with Soul" and is well known for its history of blues and jazz music. Other nearby cities are Lauderdale, Daleville, Marion, and Nellieburg.

    About the Installation 
    NAS Meridian is a jet strike fighter training station in Meridian, Mississippi, home station of Training Wing One and training squadrons VT-7 and VT-9. The main station occupies over 8,000 acres, with another 4,000 acres at Joe Williams Field and target facility SEARAY. Over 4,000 military, civilians, and dependents work or live at this station. NAS Meridian was established in 1961, as a training station, and is currently one of two stations with its training mission. For more information click here.
